Birthday Camping

What do you want for you want for your birthday?
I was asked the same question and i knew the answer, I wanted to go camping with a few friends.  The campground we chose was Markham Meadows located in  East Hampton, CT.  It was recommended to me by a co-worker.  The campground was great.  Each site had hookups for water, electric, and cable.  In addition, the sites were also very clean, had a picnic table, and a fire ring.  We had site T3 which was located on a pond.  We should have gotten a site closer to the bath house, but i will remember that for next time.  The roll call was as follows: my wife meaghan, her friend Maura, Long time friend Mike Ludwig, Penny, and My self.

We arrived at the campground got our site and started to party down.  Mike showed up shortly after with the cooler full of beer and by that time i had a fire going and the tents set up.  We started drinking Narragansett Beer right away.  There are few things on Earth as good as an ice cold beer in the afternoon sun, and the first beer of the day proved that.  Narragansett Beer was one of the beers that was around in the 70's and then dropped of the face of the Earth for  a while, well they are back and better than ever.  For those of you that don't know Narragansett is the beer of choice of Robert Shaw  in the movie JAWS!  My wife got me hambergers and hotdogs from Ohmaha Steaks for my birthday, and cooked them up.  This was Penny's first camping trip and she had a great time.  As for the rest of the night, i had a great birthday.  I drank and ate too much, but hey its my birthday, you only turn 29 once.  I would recommend Markhum Meadows campground.  here are some pics.

  1. Looks like a great taste of late summer camping. I will remember to grab some Narragansett next time I go out for really big fish. I want the person fishing with me stumble back and mutter…”You are going to need a bigger boat.”
