Beating the Heat

Last night  was bad enough, the low was only 68 and by the time I got out of work at 7am it was in the 70's.  Highs for the day were in the miserable 90's; however, I slept right through it.  I planned ahead and had the boat behind the truck when i pulled into work last night.  I figured i would need some cool fresh air after spending a warm sticky night at the sewage treatment plant, so when the Steam Whistle blew at 7am I was headed for the ramp which, by the way, is a stones throw from work.  The plan was really simple:

1.  Put the boat in
2.  Run to the Clam beds
3.  Score some clams
4.  On the way in catch some bass
5.  Stop to swim and cool off.

Even though i hit the clam beds early i lost 4-5 pounds in sweat.  The ride over was nice and cool, but the beds were more like tar pits than cool ocean water.  I did manage to get what i wanted with out dropping dead.  On the way back i stopped at a rock pile to catch a bass.  I caught fish on every cast!  I only made two casts, but i did get two fish!  On the way in i found a nice sand bar I have used before as my private beach and went for a quick swim.  Water temp was 72!

I WAS BACK AT THE HOUSE WITH THE BOAT WASHED UP BY 10AM.  I WAS IN THE A.C. AND IN BED BY 11.  I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER.

Also, i know a lot of you are waiting for some clam videos or posts.  I apologize in advance.  I have been working 1030pm to 3pm several days a week the last few weeks and i just don't have the ambition to tackle the clam project right now, but i will.

  1. staying off the water in the middle of the day doesn't sound bad at all Savage, although we have to make to best of whatever time we do have
