The End of the World, Fog, and Floating Lines

  Yesterday i drove by the local library and a man in front had a cardboard sign that said "The World Ends Tomorrow".  I thought "This better not cut into my first morning on the boat, and shooting with my brother".

Spinach and 1911's it Must be Spring

About a month ago i planted some spinach and radishes at my mother's house in hopes of an early bumper crop.  It had my doubts because April was so cold and just flat out terrible; however, life prevailed and i was rewarded with a nice load of spinach.  The radishes have a another week or so, but they will be available soon.  I am looking forward to a salad with spinach, dandelion leaves, radishes, and maybe a ramp. 

Wild Trout Lurk in the Catskills

   Only 2 hours from New York City lies the Catskill Region.  It seems to be home of some of the richest trout waters in the east.  The West and East Branch of the Delaware River, Beaverkill, and Willowemoc rivers can be found in the same area.  My good friend and area guide Vinny who runs out baxter house has been inviting me up for a long time.  Last weekend i was finally able to make it up.

     I believe citizens of the United States are truly blessed.  No where else in the world do people have such freedom to live their lives the way they see it and not the central government.  One right that i take very seriously is, you guessed it, the right to keep and bear arms.  Why do we have such a freedom?  Simply put, the founding father's of the United States wanted to make sure a King would never ever rule over us.  A King, invading force, government, or other take overs can not happen if the people are armed to the teeth.  It is the ultimate insurance policy.  With that said, i do want to make it clear that i am pro "responsible gun ownership".   Good practice in gun storage is key to ownership.  It's no secret that most stolen guns are used in the commission of a crime.......SHOCKING!!!  Keeping them locked up is a good idea; however, you must have something close at hand to protect your family.

Someone's First Trout

Sunday morning, before i went to work i had the opportunity to take Lolly, Savage Ed's Daughter fishing.  It was a good deal since Savage Ed's wife made a big breakfast complete with home fries and fresh eggs.  If i wanted eggs any fresher i had to bring the frying pan out too the coop in the back yard.  After eating we loaded up the truck and drove to our local TMA.  I was looking for a spot that had no over hanging branches and or snags in the river.  I found one right away, which was a feet in itself on a Sunday.  I rigged Ed and his daughter up with a size 8 hook and a trout worm.  They both caught fish with in their first 5 casts.  Lolly caught her first trout, a nice brookie.  I am sure Lolly will be fishing again since she had a great time.  Lolly wanted to keep her trout, because she wanted to cook it with her mother, sounds good to me.
